H.E Ambassador Negash Kebret reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement demonstrated by building a green energy sector with climate-friendly energy generation. He underlined on the existing bottlenecks developing countries like Ethiopia are facing in terms of deploying innovative Nuclear Technology for energy generation as part of fulfilling their Nationally Determined Contributions. The Director-General of IAEA Ambassador Y. Amano said that the agency is ready to assist developing countries to deploy innovative technologies.
Happening now: H.E Dr. Ing. Getahun Mekuria, Minister of Science and Technology of Ethiopia has addressed the 61st General Conference of IAEA at Vienna International Center, Vienna. The Minister said that Nuclear Technology is used in Ethiopia for peaceful purposes in Agriculture, Food Safety, and Human Health sectors. He stressed the need for strengthened technical cooperation between the Agency and developing countries. He also condemned the weaponization of Nuclear energy and called for diplomatic solutions to resolve the current tensions in the Korean Peninsula.
