Former President H.E. Girma Wolde-Giorgis Laid to Rest in Full State Honor

Former President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, H.E. Girma Wolde-Giorgis was laid to rest today (December 19) in full state honor, at Kidist Selassie Menbere Tsebaot Church (the Holy Trinity Cathedral) in Addis Ababa.
The funeral ceremony was attended by high-level government officials, including President Sahle-Work Zewdie, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives, Tagesse Chafo, Speaker of the House of Federation, Keria Ibrahim, presidents of regional states, former presidents-Dr. Mulatu Teshome and Dr. Negasso Gidada, former Prime Minister, Hailemariam Desalegn, and family and friends of the late President H.E. Girma Wolde-Giorgis, as well as ambassadors, representatives of regional and international organizations, diplomatic corps and residents of the city of Addis Ababa.
The late President H.E. Girma Wolde-Giorgis, who died last Friday night (December 14) at the age of 94, served the nation in various capacities including the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of #Ethiopia from 2001 to 2013
